Brilliance: The Stanford Lipsey Art Glass Collection Exhibition & Publication
Burchfield Penney Art Center
Designed in collaboration with the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Brilliance is a celebration of form, light, and legacy. This publication accompanied the landmark exhibition of the same name, featuring over 50 works from Stanford Lipsey’s world-class collection of contemporary art glass.
We approached the book as an extension of the artwork itself—elevated, precise, and beautiful. Multiple specialty papers, a custom mixed spot touch plate, a spot matte and flood gloss aqueous coating were all used to mirror the light-reactive quality of the glass on display. The finished volume is housed in a clear acrylic slipcase, silkscreened with a reflected title on either side.
Projects like this allow us to bring together thoughtful editorial design and high-end production in ways that honor both the artist and the collector. It’s a great example of how we help museums and institutions create publications that are as lasting and inspiring as the exhibitions they represent.
Brilliance celebrates the expressive power of studio glass and the passionate legacy of a collector who believed art should be shared.
This exhibition marked the first time Stanford Lipsey’s private collection was made accessible to the public—an act of generosity and vision that shaped the design of the book itself.
Designed to echo the interplay of light, color, and form found in the artworks, the catalog offers a tactile and visual experience as layered as the collection it documents.
White Bicycle worked closely with the curatorial team to design a catalog that doesn’t just document the collection, but reflects its spirit—elevating materials, structure, and light in every detail.
